On a middle class income, dipping into Leica waters can be fiscally irresponsible, if not outright dangerous. I would talk myself out of it, though, due to the price barrier.
Still, I wanted to use one of their products to have that experience and perspective for myself. Like most photographers, I was fully aware of the brand and the conflicting opinions regarding Leica on the internet, but I didn’t have the first-hand experience to truly form an opinion for myself.īasically, I assumed Leica products were high quality, but ultimately over-hyped (and over-priced) because of the legacy behind the brand. The Leica Summicron-R 50mm f/2 II was my first Leica lens.
